Cheltenham
The home of Gustav Holst and Captain "I may be some time" Oates.
A town specifically designed for leisure and pleasure! Cheltenham became a spa town in 1716. According to legend the first medicinal waters were discovered when pigeons were noticed pecking at salty deposits which had formed around a spring.
Cheltenham has one of the largest croquet clubs in the country, and is home to the headquarters of the national body of the sport, the Croquet Association.
